Ruth D. (Shade) Haring

Ruth D. (Shade) Haring, 96, formally of Fleetwood, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023. She was the wife of the late Arn D. Haring. Born in Kutztown, she was the daughter of the late Solon and Helen (Zettlemoyer) Shade. Ruth was a sewing machine operator for J & L Factory for 22 years and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fleetwood. 

She is survived by;  a daughter, Patricia A. wife of Dennis Fenstermaker, grandsons, Ryan, husband of Karen Fenstermaker and Kyle, husband of Heidy Fenstermaker.  She loved family visits, especially when her four great-granddaughters Lily, Emma, Adalyn and Isabella were there. She was active in community service including assembling food for ”Meals on Wheels”, and loved to walk, often 12 miles a day, and was affectionately known as “the Cookie Lady” for baking and delivering cookies during her walks.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 117 E. Arch St., Fleetwood, Pa. Services are private. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens. Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
