Mabel D. (Seip) Kunkel

Mabel D. (nee Seip) Kunkel, age 97, of Kutztown, PA went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on October 29, 2023 from her home. She was much beloved by her family and friends. Mabel was born August 1, 1926, in Virginville, PA, the daughter of Luther and Minnie (Sechler) Seip. She was the youngest of eight children, all who predeceased her. She was the widow of Ivan L Kunkel who predeceased her in 1985. Mabel and Ivan raised four children. Mabel was always very active in her church, St. Johns UCC of Kutztown, as she loved to make Easter candy and help with the Church bazaars. She and her friends were avid bingo players. She also loved to play cards, especially double deck Pinochle. Mable lived next to the Kutztown Fairgrounds and for many years parked cars in her yard for the Kutztown Folk Festival. She loved interacting with the visitors, some of whom returned year after year to park in her yard.  Survivors are son Ronald, married to Cynthia (nee Everly) of Mohrsville, PA, and three grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Daughter Shirley, married to Steven Swenson, of Rhinebeck, NY, and two grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Son Carl and friend Fern Kulp, of Kutztown, PA, and two grandchildren and five great grandchildren, son Rodney, married to Jacqueline (nee Stracco) of Mesa, AZ, and two grandchildren. 

Services will be Thursday, November 2, 2023 in St. Johns UCC, 257 W. Walnut Street, Kutztown,19530. Visitation with the family 9am – 11am, service at 11am. Interment Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. In lieu of flowers Contributions may be made to St. Johns UCC.  Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home Inc. in charge of arrangements.
