Anna Belle Fisher Obituary

Anna Belle L. (Schoedler) Fisher, 99, formerly of Fleetwood and Kutztown, passed away Friday, April 29, 2022 at The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of Mark S. Fisher, deceased January 13, 2009. They shared 64 years of marriage.

Anna Belle was born on January 21, 1923 in Kutztown, Pa, the daughter of the late Scott H. and Flora L. (Merkel) Schoedler. Her older sister, Ellen, died in 1923 at the age of 14 when Anna Belle was only 9 years old. Anna Belle was a 1940 graduate of Kutztown High School. She played basketball on the county championship team and had many close friends from her high school years. Anna Belle graduated from Allentown Business School and worked in the offices at Atlas Mineral in Mertztown and American Mutual Insurance Co. in Reading after graduation. When Anna Belle’s children were young, she began her second “career” as a waitress in 1955, which she enjoyed. Her first job was at Rudy’s Restaurant, Kutztown. When Rudy’s closed, Anna Belle began waitressing in 1965 at Moselem Springs Inn, Fleetwood, where she worked for 20 years. She enjoyed interacting with her customers and prided herself on giving good service to them.

Anna Belle and Mark married on March 14, 1944 in Kutztown, days before Mark left for a second tour of duty in the Army. When Mark was discharged from the Army, they settled in their home on Church Lane in Kutztown, aside of Anna Belle’s parents, where they remained until moving to Fleetwood in 1995. Anna Belle was a life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kutztown.

Survivors: daughter, Ellen, wife of Philip Long, Mertztown, and son, Rodney, husband of Sandra (Stauffer) Fisher, Florida. There are 3 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and 2 grand-dogs, one surviving cousin, and Mark’s niece and nephew.

Graveside services will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 357 West Main Street, Kutztown, Pennsylvania 19530.

The family thanks the staff at The Lutheran Home for their dedicated service helping Anna Belle live out her last years peacefully.
