Ruby Dawn Stump

Ruby Dawn Stump 83, of Kutztown, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026. She was the wife of the late Stewart K. Stump. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Sheldon E. and Leah M. (Houck) Gernert. Ruby grew up in Lyons Station, PA, later moving to Kutztown. She was a 1960 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. She married her high school sweetheart Stu Stump and after a short time living in California, they returned and resided in Kutztown. They celebrated fifty five years of marriage prior to Stu’s passing in 2016.

Ruby started her work life as a book keeper at the Farmer’s Bank in Kutztown. She retired from East Penn Manufacturing working as a secretary in both the Central Maintenance and A1 offices. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Kutztown.

Ruby and Stu enjoyed outdoor activities like biking, hiking, backpacking, and fishing throughout their marriage. They enjoyed spending time dining and travelling with their friends, classmates, and family. Ruby was also an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting blankets, scarves and hats for family, friends, and local support groups.

She is survived by son Kevin S. husband of Beth I. (Isley) Stump of Kutztown, granddaughters Rebecca M. wife of Justin C. Werner of Astoria, NY, Rachel S. wife of Payden D. Merryman of Stanton, TX, Sarah J. Stump, partner of Jeremy A. Green, of Douglassville, PA and brother Rodney S. Gernert husband of Virginia of Kutztown, PA. She is also survived by grandchildren Justin Stewart (Artie) Werner, and Clay D. Merryman.

Services will be held on May 30th, 2026 at 10:00 am, Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown, PA officiated by Seth Noggle. Light refreshments to follow.
