Joanne L. (Diehl) Spohn, 93, of Kutztown, PA, passed away on July 4, 2026. She was born on August 18, 1932, in Fleetwood, PA, to the late Charles and Dora (Borden) Diehl.

Joanne graduated from Kutztown High School in 1950, where she played on the softball team.

She worked at Saucony Shoe, and later spent many years at Kutztown High School, working in the cafeteria and as a bus driver, where she enjoyed driving students to sporting events. She also worked at the Lutheran Home at Topton.

Joanne had a lifelong love of all things that fly — hot air balloons, gliders, and planes. She was also an avid sports fan, especially of the Kutztown University softball team.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy L. (Spohn) Rothermel, and by her brothers Darryl Diehl and Arlan Diehl.

Joanne is survived by her son, Garren Spohn, and daughter-in-law, Kelly (Schwartz) Spohn; her grandchildren, Calvin L. Spohn and Jenna N. Spohn; and her brothers, Delmar Diehl, Randall Diehl, and Gerald Diehl.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
