Stewart K. Stump

Stewart K. Stump  74 of Kutztown, died November 20th in his home. He was the husband of Ruby D. (Gernert) Stump. Stu  was born in Kutztown  a son of the late Melvin R. and Eva M. (Prutzman) Stump. He  was a member of St. John ‘s UCC, Kutztown, where he was on the Consistory for  two years, a graduate of Kutztown High School class of 1960, a Navy Veteran.  He worked at Western Electric, and Lucent Technology as a Tool & Die Maker and Maintenance Technician. At Lucent he was  also the fire chief for 26 years. Stu was very active in the Kutztown Fire Company, having served in various  positions for 53 years.  He responded  to more fire calls than anyone else in the history of the fire company.  Stu  was a board  member of the  Kutztown Area Historical Society for 16 years, was a Boy Scout Leader and a Little League Coach for 8 years. He is survived by his wife Ruby, son Kevin S. husband  of Elizabeth (Isley)  Stump, three granddaughters, Rebecca Marie fiancé of Justin Werner, Rachel Elizabeth fiancé of Terry Willoughby,  and Sarah Joyce Stump. Brother Gene R. husband of Faye, Kutztown, sister Elaine M. wife of Harold Schappell, Wernersville, deceased sister Phyllis Althouse. Memorial services at the Kutztown Fire Company 11AM November 26th with Rev. Keith Rohrbach officiating followed by a fire service procession. Visitation with the family immediately following the fire service procession at the Kutztown Fire Company.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Kutztown Fire Company, Noble Street, Kutztown or Kutztown Area Historical Society, Box 307  Kutztown, Pa. 19530
